Lemon juice for acne preparation

You can prepare the stock solution of the lemon juice that you will be using for the next 7 days or you prepare the lemon solution for acne at the instance of usage. I don't use to advise the stock preparation. But either has its advantages.

Below are the steps to take in applying the formulation

  • Squeeze enough lemon juice in a container. You may dilute with enough pure water to reduce burn because the lemon juice is acidic (NOTE: Don’t put much water that the concentration of the lemon be too low). You can add other ingredient such as honey which is also a good moisturizer of the skin.
  • After cleaning your face or after you night bath (May be morning or night but I advice night), you should apply your lemon for acne solution. Be consistent with this periodic administration of the solution and you will see result. In other words you have to be consistent with the period you use the preparation. The lemon juice for acne can be prepared by you at home.

Simple Tips on How To Get Rid Of Acne

Acne is a problem for more people than not, however, this does not mean that it is uncontrollable. While there are dozens of possible causes and triggers, there are so many different products and practices that can lessen or eliminate acne breakouts. Keep reading to see some hints on dealing with acne. You may be able to improve your acne by cleansing your face with water and not using any cosmetics for two weeks. The products used on the skin, from cleansers to face powder, are many times the culprit behind the cause of acne. Many cosmetic products contain chemicals that are damaging as well as irritating to skin, which in turn cause acne. Below are

Simple Tips on How To Get Rid Of Acne

Don’t apply acne medication only to current spots; put it on your entire face. Acne isn’t all visible; there can be infections starting beneath your skin that haven’t become visible yet. Don’t forget to use some on your forehead too.

Create a regular face-cleaning plan to help rid yourself of acne. Make sure you make time to clean your face every day. Wash your face in the morning and in the evening with an effective cleansing agent. Don’t overdo your face washing, as this can just cause dryness, which will cause your face to produce excess oil. Keeping a clean face is one of the best defenses against acne.

To help prevent acne, make sure you are drinking lots of water. Eight glasses, or more, of water is necessary for your body. When water intake is insufficient, dehydration starts. Dehydrated skin cannot get rid of dead skin cells efficiently. This can cause acne to get worse.

There is no miracle cure that will stop acne from flaring up, but there are some steps you can take to help stop them. It is important to keep hair care products off of your skin as much as humanly possible. Hair products can contain oils and chemicals that irritate skin and provoke acne.

Dialing up the frequency with which you cleanse your face can help you dial down the frequency of acne outbreaks you experience. Make sure that you give your face a thorough washing right after you wake up and right before you turn in, every single day. Best face wash for acne

Make sure you avoid mixing different acne creams together. Some people think if they use every product out there, the combined effects will help them quicker. While one acne cream may contain a small amount of a harsh ingredient that doesn’t hurt your skin, combining it with harsh chemicals in other creams may create a synergistic effect that damages your skin.

Do not drink alcohol on a regular basis. Your skin can react in a negative way if high volumes of alcohol are consumed regularly.

Apple cider is great against acne. This is great for detoxifying your entire body as well as fighting and preventing acne problems. If you do not like apple cider plain, look up recipes to include it in.

Touching your face and pressing on pimples will only make it worse. Touching your face transfers oil and debris from your hands, which is a major trigger for breakouts. Popping pimples can spread bacteria and cause infections so it is best to avoid this as well.

The old adage is true; stress can cause acne. It is up to you to resolve or manage your stress before it causes another breakout. You can help to reduce stress and stay healthy by participating in different exercises like Yoga. why the face is oily

There are many people, especially teens, who have acne, but it isn’t something that has to be tolerated. Using the information above can help minimize acne’s effects. It is often easier to deal with acne by taking a few precautionary steps to stop it before it gets out of hand.

INTERVIEW: Don't Bother With Proactiv

I saw  this interview exposing what many of us suspected about TV-hawked, celebrity-endorsed "acne system" Proactiv, which is that it's left scores of disgruntled customers in its wake.
Recently, Jezebel ran two articles exposing what many of us suspected about TV-hawked, celebrity-endorsed "acnesystem" Proactiv, which is that it's left scores of disgruntled customers in its wake. Here's one:

For over a month I have tried to contact the company via telephone (using several posted telephone numbers) but each time I am met with a recorded out going message stating they are "experiencing technical difficulties". I wish to cancel/close my account and am unable to do so. I have also sent the company a letter via US Mail to notify them of my desire to "quit them" and still have received no response.

Jezebel focused mainly on customers' struggles to terminate their subscriptions, though there was some dissing of the product itself, which is marketed as if it's a miracle drug for your zits. So I decided to reach out to cosmetic chemist Perry Romanowski, who writes for The Beauty Brains, a blog dedicated to helping consumers sort out the truth behind claims made by cosmetics companies, to get his thoughts on the Jezebel pieces and Proactiv's magic pimple-zapping powers.

Amanda Marcotte: I sent you this article about Proactiv and complaints about how the company runs its business. What are some of your initial thoughts about it?

Perry Romanowski: Sounds about right. They follow a business model that takes advantage of their customers' tendencies to not pay attention to what's being charged on their credit cards—a subscription model that keeps charging even when you might not want the product any more.

Marcotte: I suspect a lot of people are wary of buying skin care products sold on TV, but they sign up for Proactiv because the ads do a good job of implying that it is better than anything else on the market for clearing up acne. Is it?

Romanowski: No. They use standard (effective) technology, but their products are not better than the stuff you could buy at Target or Wal-Mart. Anti-acne products are over-the-counter drugs regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. Manufacturers are limited in the technologies and claims they can use.

How Drinking Coffee Could Improve Your Health

$

One of the common known effects of coffee is the possibility of lack in sleep or something in your diet. The truth also is you cannot substitute coffee for your normal healthy food.

But like wine, chocolate and popcorn, coffee has joined the ranks of unlikely foods with health benefits. An increasing body of research has found that drinking coffee—even four or more cups per day in some instances—provides health benefits. And a 13-year study of 402,260 AARP members conducted by the National Cancer Institute, which was published May 17 in the "New England Journal of Medicine," concluded that devoted coffee drinkers were associated with a reduced risk of early death by up to 16 percent.

“This is perhaps the most compelling because the study was so large,” says Robert Davis, at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health and author of “Coffee is Good for You: From Vitamin C and Organic Foods to Low-Carb and Detox Diets, The Truth About Diet and Nutrition Claims.” He noted that the study was observational, so it doesn’t prove cause and it effect.

Though drinking coffee excessively can increase levels of the stress hormone cortisol and foster a dependence on caffeine, here are ten areas where coffee consumption just might be beneficial – if you limit the cream and sugar.

Memory Improvement

Coffee can help with both long- and short-term memory. In a 2005 study presented at the Radiological Society of North America, researchers found that consuming two cups of caffeinated coffee improved short-term memory and reaction times.

Interestingly, a 2007 study found that women -- but not men -- who were 65 or older who drank more than three cups of coffee each day performed better on memory tests and were less likely to show memory decline than those who drank just one cup a day.

Although researchers have known for some time that coffee can decrease the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, researchers at the University of South Florida in 2011 found that a distinctive interaction between caffeine and coffee might be why. They recommend drinking four to five cups daily, starting in middle age, to increase GCSF, granulocyte colony stimulating factor, which is decreased in Alzheimer’s patients and improves memory in mice.

Gallstone Prevention

Harvard researchers in 2002 found that women who drank at least four cups of coffee a day were at a 25 percent lower risk of gallstones. An earlier study found similar results for men.

Depression Prevention

Women who drank two to three cups of daily coffee were 15 percent less likely to develop depression, and those drinking four cups were 20 percent less likely, according to a 2011 report in the "Archives of Internal Medicine."

Less Risk for Diabetes

Studies suggest that coffee drinkers are less likely to develop Type 2 diabetes, with those putting away four or more cups daily 50 percent less likely. A January 2012 report in the 'Journal of Agricultural & Food Chemistry" might explain why. It attributes the effect to compounds in coffee that block hIAPP, a polypeptide that can result in abnormal protein fibers, which are found in people with Type 2.

Decreases Cancer Risk

Coffee consumption has been associated with decreased risk of breast, endometrial, prostate and liver cancers, and those linked with obesity, estrogen and insulin. A 2008 Swedish study found that drinking at least two to three cups a day reduced the risk or delayed the onset of breast cancer.

A 2011 study in "Breast Cancer Research" found that drinking five or more cups could translate into a 20 percent less chance of developing estrogen-receptor-negative breast cancer. And, citing research on coffee’s effect on diabetes, researchers also found that drinking more than four cups a day was linked with a 25 percent reduced risk for endometrial cancer.

But it’s not just the women who luck out. A recent study out of the Harvard School of Public Health found that both regular and decaf coffee resulted in reduced risk of prostate cancer.

Metabolism Boost

Coffee might help you maintain -- or even lose -- weight. A study as far back as 1980 found that the caffeine found in coffee stimulates the metabolism, but that only “normal,” rather than obese, subjects experienced greater oxidation of fat.

A 2006 study confirmed that the metabolism-boosting benefits of coffee were greater -- and lasted longer -- in lean women. More recently, researchers discovered that ground green coffee beans taken as a supplement seemed to promote weight loss -- an average of 17 pounds in obese adults during a 22-week period. Researchers didn’t think it was the caffeine; rather, they credited the chlorogenic acid, which might reduce glucose absorption.

Lower Risk for Parkinson’s Disease

The "Journal of the American Medical Association" in 2000 found that the caffeine intake associated with coffee translated into a lower risk of developing Parkinson’s. A 2010 study found that drinking two to three cups of coffee daily can mean up to a 25 percent less chance of developing the disease.

Antioxidative Properties

Harvard researcher Edward Giovannucci, in research published in "Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention," noted that coffee has more antioxidants than most vegetables and fruits. In fact, a 2005 study found that coffee is the No. 1 source for antioxidants in the American diet. That’s a reflection of the volume of coffee consumed in this country, and how much is making it into the bloodstream is unclear.

Performance-Enhancing Benefits

Coffee -- and the caffeine in it -- has been shown in multiple studies to increase both endurance and short-term performance. A 2008 study concluded that the benefit of caffeine before exercise occurs during endurance events, stop-and-go events and long-term high-intensity activity. It also can help athletes perform better during strength training -- even when sleep-deprived -- if taken one hour before exercise at the rate of 4 mg for every kg of body weight.

Gout Prevention

A 2007 study of men older than 40 linked long-term coffee consumption with a lower risk of gout, an inflammatory condition caused by elevated levels of uric acid. Decaf and regular both had an effect, and those drinking six cups a day experienced as much as a 60 percent lower risk of gout.

Out of 62 food products which athletes endorsed in 2010, 79 percent are in the junk food category. And just about all athlete promoted beverages derived 100 percent of their calories from sugar.

The Best and Worst Vegetables to Eat In Vegetable Diet

best and worst vegetables to eat

If the phrase "eat your vegetables" echoes from your childhood memories of suppers gone by, then rest assured your mother was right. One of the best ways to improve your health is to eat plenty of high quality vegetables -- ideally raw, locally grown and organic.
It sounds like a tall order. It takes time to get a bounty of fresh vegetables together and eat them every day.
The good news is, it's easier than you think. For example, one way to maximize your intake of veggies is to juice them -- something I highly recommend to patients in our health clinic who are working to restore or improve their health. I'll discuss juicing a little later in this article, but first, let's explore what makes vegetables "high quality," so you will be prepared to make the best choices possible in any situation.
The Importance Of Choosing Organic
The best quality produce means organic, because USDA Organic farmers (and many small, local organic farms working without certification) must use different standards than conventional commercial farmers. These standards include never using:

Making sure your vegetables are pesticide-free is especially important.
Did you know the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) considers 60 percent of herbicides, 90 percent of fungicides and 30 percent of insecticides to be carcinogenic? Most pesticides can damage your nervous system and are associated with numerous health problems such as neurotoxicity, endocrine dysfunction, immunosuppression, impaired reproductive function, miscarriage, and even Parkinson's disease.
This information alone should be an impetus for buying local, organic produce. But there is another important factor to consider: Organic vegetables are more nutritious than conventionally farmed vegetables.
But what if you can't find everything you want organic? How do you tell which conventional veggies may be safe? An investigation of 43 different fruit and vegetable categories by the Environmental Working Group showed sweet bell peppers, celery, lettuce, spinach and potatoes had the highest residual pesticide loads, making them the most important to buy organic.
In contrast, broccoli, eggplant, cabbage, asparagus, sweet peas, sweet corn (frozen) and onions had the lowest residual pesticide load, making them the safest bet among conventionally grown vegetables.
The next step in ensuring your vegetables are high quality is to purchase locally grown produce whenever possible. This increases the chances they are fresh and not wilted.
Now, on to juicing -- another way to help your body absorb more nutrients from a wide variety of vegetables.
Juicing Your Way To Extraordinary Health
First of all, juice only vegetables you enjoy eating whole. That way, your juice will have a familiar flavor that appeals to you. Once you are used to that you can gradually incorporate healthy deep green vegetables like kale and collard greens and moderate their bitterness by juicing some fresh limes.
Also, juice foods you know your body can tolerate -- your stomach should feel good all morning long. If it is churning or growling or generally making its presence known, you probably juiced something you shouldn't be eating.
You can also add certain foods to make your juice more palatable, like fresh or unsweetened shredded coconut, cranberries, lemons and limes -- or even a little fresh ginger root, which has fantastic cardiovascular benefits.
But, whether you're munching them raw or juicing them, some vegetables contain more health building nutrients than others. The following tables detail some of the best and worst vegetables for your health.
2011-01-25-HP12511.JPG

If you decide to go the juicing route, I highly recommend first reviewing my information about Nutritional Typing, where you'll learn there are different approaches to juicing depending on whether you are a "veggie type" or a "protein type," or "mixed."
Finally, I'd like to encourage you to obtain as much nutrition as possible from whole food sources, rather than relying on supplements, which can actually have negative health consequences.
A reasonable starter goal is to shoot for eating at least one-third of your foods raw. But I want to emphasize that eating any vegetable is better than eating none at all, so don't get discouraged if you're able to juice only a few times a week.
Even if you need to start slowly, soon you'll begin noticing increased feelings of well beingand a new spring in your step! When you begin flooding your body with the nutrients it craves, you might just be amazed at how chronic ailments and aches and pains begin fading away.

Avoiding The End Of The Year Eating Frenzy - Maintain a ood Health

While the holiday season can be hectic and stressful, it is also a joyful season filled with fun social events. Your calendar is undoubtedly full of holiday parties, concerts, business events, festivals, and family gatherings. Although drinks will flow and delicious treats will abound, the holidays don’t have to derail your diet.
As you’re making the rounds this season, a little planning goes a long way to ensure healthy holiday habits. Follow these simple guidelines, put together by our friends at AWomansHealth.com, to avoid the most common holiday pitfalls.
Have a plan. As the holidays approach, devise a plan for how you will cope with the wide array of enticing treats. Are you currently trying to lose weight? If so, will you continue to diet through the holiday season or will you shift your attention to maintaining your current weight? Will you allow yourself to eat all treats, some treats, or no treats? Think about what feels realistic and right for you. Write down your plan—the commitments we write down are the ones we are most likely to keep.
Maintain your routine. The holidays are usually a frenetic time, which is why it is so important to maintain a sense of normalcy. Stick to your normal meal plan as much as possible. Continue to shop for your typical grocery staples and prepare healthy meals for your family. If you eat well most of the time, a few splurges at holiday parties are not likely to have lasting effects.

Manage stress. Most of the time, overeating at holiday events is the result of stress. Under other less-stressful circumstances, we might find it easier to pass up the rich desserts; however, when we’re tired and overwhelmed, we’re more likely to reach for sugary, starchy treats. Managing your stress will help you to be proactive. Get plenty of sleep and plenty of exercise throughout the season. You’ll be less likely to indulge in treats and more likely to indulge in conversation.
Pre-eat. Don’t arrive hungry to a holiday party. Face it—you’re there to socialize, not to eat. So, make the party about the people, not the food. Arrive with a full belly and focus on the conversation and hilarity.
Stay hydrated. Often we mistake dehydration for hunger. Drink plenty of water this season and you’ll be less likely to reach for empty calories.
Drink alcohol in moderation. Alcohol is full of empty calories that are correlated with an increase in abdominal fat. Furthermore, alcohol reduces our inhibitions and often causes us to nibble when we aren’t really hungry. Limit your alcohol intake and you’re more likely to make healthy food choices.
Pause. Take a deep breath before you reach for a treat and ask yourself if you really want it. Will it really satisfy you? Are you hungry or do you just want a treat? If you’re hungry, is there another choice that will satisfy your hunger and provide some nutrients? Most hosts provide a veggie tray. Nibble on carrots before reaching for cookies.
Indulge. Face it—some holiday treats are irresistible and only appear once a year. It’s okay to indulge. Save your splurges for the treats you really love. If you don’t love it, why bother?
The holidays are not a license to eat anything we want, but they don’t have to be about deprivation either. As a wise man once said, “Everything in moderation, including moderation.”
